Final verision

Hello all who I have neglected for so long. I do not have a good excuse for not keeping up with my blog, unless you count thesis work a good excuse for being busy? Anyway, I thought I would post a quick update on what I have been working on for the fall semester of school. I am partnering with the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped to redesign their children's space. I am also working on updating their identity by bringing them into 2009 with a fresh, clean look. Stay tuned to see the final results.

Summer knitting

Hello all in blogland. Just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am still alive minus the lack of posts. I finished up working in Baltimore for the summer and I have been home in California for the last couple of weeks. I finished my neck scarf and I am very pleased with how it turned out! I also finished the cardigan sweater that I started almost 2 years ago. I was 90% done before I started school, but now I am 100% done! I guess I can say I am slow, but steady!

I've been reading and doing research for my thesis and I on a good path. Stay tuned.

Celtic cable neckwarmer

I am officially on summer vacation, but it doesn't feel like much of a vacation since I am working here 40 hours a week. I'm really happy with my summer job and thankful that I will be making some money before I leave Baltimore in July. I am also doing as much reading as possible to inform my work for thesis next year. So far the books are helping with inspiration and so is this little side knitting project I have going on.

Peace - A word study

More word studies

For the last few weeks of school I have been working on some word experiments made out of various materials. This is an idea I am experimenting with for thesis next year. I am interested in designing for the senses and this is my first step on the journey. I tired out eggshells and sewing needles as my first two attempts. Up next is my summer reading list with includes Designing Design by Kenya Hara and Brand Sense by Martin Lindstrom.

Banner

Hello all. My Urban Forest banner is now proudly on display in Baltimore near John Hopkins. If you are driving up Charles Street (it's a one way street), it will be on your left hand side. The city looks so good with all the banners and I'm so glad that I decided to participate in such a great cause.

First year show at MICA

Installing the vinyl
All the first year MFA students at MICA participate in a gallery opening in March and I decided to use my numbers from last semester done in my experimental type class. I used the vinyl cutter and with James' help, we got it onto the wall. Here it is!

New Views conference poster
One of the first assignments of this semester was to design a poster for the New Views 2 design conference happening in London this summer. The poster needed to use graphic design as a means to critique and reflect upon its future. This is my heart. This is my future.
